Yup. I actually adore the poor thing and the design philosophy it stands for, and I love Nissan for giving no ducks and building it. Howwwever, based on it’s total record so far, it iiiis a bit of a lemon haha.

But just like lame Lincolns, if you wait a model year or two, they offer AWD as an option. I would actually like to see this actually power out of the corners. However, one of its ‘features’ was a hybrid system that could in theory throw down 1250hp. But ACO has put a 1000hp cap for petro+hybrid.

They really need to get the AWD and hybrid in order to justify all that weight. But then with many principals leaving... who knows.

They actually did the math and figured they didn’t need it and would save weight. I’m a big fan, I want it to succeed so bad... but so far it’s been a litttttle sad.

I well they have to have the hybrid because the system is built into the tub of the car. The weight is there.

The AWD seems to always be ‘next season.’

I think it's designed to be easy to pull out.

Wishful thinking on your part. From car.com...

There’s more. Nissan plans to use a flywheel hybrid system, and part of the GT-R LM’s design relies on the flywheels’ energy harvesting process to provide up to 2g of braking performance. 2g ! Without this, stopping the car became an instant major problem. A bigger brake package was hastily assembled – but cooling this without ruining that all-important aero was a nut that just couldn’t be cracked. As soon as the car had to slow for any reason, the brakes caught fire. The first disc change took place within the first six hours (the ones that came off promptly melted a hole in the floor), and this became a depressingly routine process throughout the event.

That being said, this is a Bowlby designed to his crazy solution as an ecosystem. Wide front tires + major front aero balance + crazy front weight distribution + slippery rear body + 2g of hybrid braking + flywheel hybrid AWD.

Subtract the AWD and the hybrid system is over-sized. Subtract the power (but not the weight) of the hybrid and you have a weird FWD minus 20 second car.

With the whole ecosystem populated, this would be more disruptive than the DeltaWing, but without them, it’s just an uncompetitive car.
